Dr. Shane Johnson NDDr. Shane Johnson

Dr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology from the University of Calgary. He then went on to complete his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. After graduation Dr. Johnson completed a 1-year residency in Family Practice at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Johnson is a member of both the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

Dr. Johnson enjoys practicing family medicine that integrates the use of botanical medicine, homeopathy, clinical nutrition, IV therapy and lifestyle counseling. He has particular interests in gastrointestinal issues, such as GERD, IBS and inflammatory bowel disease. His interests also include general wellness concerns that include weight management, fatigue, and stress management.

Dr. Johnson strongly believes in the importance of taking time to understand his patients’ health concerns and putting together individualized treatment plans that focus on the cause of their ailments. He also emphasizes the prevention of disease and taking the necessary steps to live a healthy lifestyle.

With his general family practice training in pediatrics, women’s health, men’s health, environmental medicine, gastroenterology, diabetes, weight management, and endocrinology, Dr. Johnson treats a wide variety of health concerns.

Dr. Johnson was born and raised in Red Deer. After completing his studies he is thrilled to return to his hometown. Away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and traveling.



Dr. Keshia Kamphuis NDDr. Keshia Kamphuis ND

Dr Kamphuis received a Bachelors of Science in Physiology from the University of Saskatchewan before completing a four year naturopathic doctorate degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. Dr Kamphuis is a member in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

Dr Kamphuis has completed internships in aboriginal health, prenatal care and midwifery, and had the privilege to intern with Naturopaths Without Borders where she offered naturopathic care to an underserviced community in Haiti. Dr Kamphuis is also a Certified Labor Doula and has assisted at a number of births under midwives in Canada and abroad.

She enjoys treating a wide range of health concerns in general family practice including digestive health, thyroid conditions, stress-related illnesses, fatigue, and psychological concerns. She also has a special interest in fertility and conception, labor preparation and pregnancy care.

Dr Kamphuis is passionate about the work she does as a naturopathic doctor. She believes that health and vital living are possible when symptoms are addressed and treated at their root cause. She works with her patients to develop effective and individual treatment plans using botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy and lifestyle counseling.

In her time away from the clinic, Dr Kamphuis enjoys a regular yoga practice, spending time with family and friends, hiking and traveling.



Dr. Kristin Ruzicki NDDr. Kristen Ruzicki ND

Dr. Ruzicki received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Afterwards, she went on to complete her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Ruzicki is a member and in good standing with both the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

While attending Naturopathic Medical School, Dr. Ruzicki was an active member of Naturopaths Without Borders, organizing and volunteering on monthly clinic trips in Rocky Point, Mexico. These trips allowed her to gain invaluable experience in global health as well as the opportunity to see and treat a variety of clinical conditions. She hopes to continue volunteering with global health organizations in the future.

Dr. Ruzicki was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. When she is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, frequenting local yoga studios, hiking, and snowboarding.



Dr. Firas Ben Zaid M.B.Ch.B., ND. Firas Ben Zaid  M.B.Ch.B., ND

Dr. Ben Zaid obtained his Bachelor Degree of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Baghdad. He then moved to Canada and joined the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where he completed his Doctorate of Naturopathy in 2010.  He is currently a member in good standing with both the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA), and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

Since his early years in medical school, Dr. Ben Zaid has always believed in the importance of finding the root cause when treating health ailments.  This concept continues to define his practice as a naturopathic doctor.

Prior to practicing in Alberta, Dr. Ben Zaid worked at the Thyroid and Hormones Endocrinology Centre in Toronto, where he had the opportunity to see and treat a wide variety of endocrinological ailments including thyroid disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian syndrome, hormonal imbalance, and adrenal stress.

Dr. Ben Zaid was born and raised in Libya.  While away from the clinic, he enjoys travelling with his family, volunteering in his community, swimming, coaching and playing soccer.





Dr. Donovan Stearn MDDr. Donovan Stearn MD

Dr. Stearn received a Bachelor Degree of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He also holds a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care and has completed his CCFP qualification. After university he served underprivileged rural communities in Cape Town. In 2011 Dr. Stearn relocated to Canada to practice as a family physician. He is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), Alberta Medical Association (AMA) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

Dr. Stearn enjoys practicing holistic family medicine. He has a particular interest in Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy and is currently enrolled in a Functional Medicine Education Program. He has a firm belief in the connection between nutrition and disease. He places significant value on primary prevention of disease through healthy nutrition, exercise and he encourages active participation in a spiritual practice.

Dr. Stearn strongly believes in the holistic and integrative approach to treating patients. He enjoys working with professionals in all spheres of medicine and believes that this approach will result in better outcomes for patients.

Away from the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys, baking sourdough bread, making kombucha, fermenting foods, and traveling the world with his family.

Dr. Jennie has always had a love of people, but it was not until she started babysitting at the age of 13 that she discovered her passion for working with children. In her high school year book, she strongly declared that she wanted to be a psychologist, without actually knowing what a psychologist really did! Thankfully, after her first child psychology class at the University of Calgary, she was hooked and it was then that she decided to become a clinical child psychologist. And, well the rest is history!

Dr. Jennie completed her PhD and internship in Ohio where she mostly worked with inner city youth, Dr. Jennie decided she was ready to move back to Canada. She and her husband, along with their two young boys are proud to once again call Red Deer their home and the couple is passionate about helping people in Central Alberta.





Stacey Contenti BScN, RN, MAStacey Contenti BScN, RN, MA

Stacey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta in 1996 and completed her Master of Arts degree in 2007. As a Registered Nurse, Stacey has worked in a variety of settings including surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, community nursing, volunteer camp nursing, and educating the next generation of Registered Nurses as a nursing instructor at the Red Deer College.

Along with her husband and two daughters, Stacey has embraced a healthy, natural lifestyle since 2004. She has experienced the benefits of care provided by Natural Practitioners firsthand and appreciates the sound science behind the medicine.

Stacey was born and raised in Red Deer. Away from work she loves spending time with her family, gardening, quilting, reading, and camping. Stacey also enjoys playing the piano and the violin.
