Specialized Testing

Specialized Testing 2018-03-15T14:44:30+00:00

Our doctors can order the same regular blood work that a MD can… PLUS specialized testing for our patients which includes:

Food sensitivity testing

Eczema, gas/bloating, IBS, Crohn’s, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, chronic sinusitis, low immunity, migraines, behavioral concerns, and asthma are just a few of the conditions often associated with food sensitivities.

Food reactions can take hours or even days to appear, making it difficult to determine the offending food without testing. Elimination diets are difficult to follow and can take months to complete. Food sensitivity testing is a simple blood test sent off to an accredited laboratory with results being available within a few weeks.

Stop guessing what foods are bothering you and find out once and for all.

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) testing

Have you been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)? Research has shown that at least 60% of all IBS cases also have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Effectively treating SIBO leads to a major reduction, or even complete elimination of IBS symptoms.

SIBO is an extremely common condition, in which bacterial fermentation of fibers and specific sugars found within food, create excessive gas production within the small intestines – leading to abdominal bloating, abdominal pains, burping, flatulence, heartburn, diarrhea, and constipation.

A proper diagnosis of SIBO followed by focused treatment will get to the root cause of your IBS and set you back on track to improved intestinal health.

Call us today to get yourself tested for SIBO.

Comprehensive stool and parasite testing

Gastrointestinal concerns are among the most common complaints in medical care. This comprehensive profile helps to identify the cause of gastrointestinal symptoms  and to measure key markers of digestion, absorption and inflammation.

These markers can be used to differentiate between the inflammation associated with potentially life-threatening inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which requires lifelong treatment, and the less severe inflammation that can be associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

This test is useful for:

  • Gastrointestinal Symptoms
  • Autoimmune Disease
  • IBD/IBS
  • Inflammation
  • Food Sensitivities
  • Nutritional Deficiencies

Call us today to get to the bottom of your digestive issues with our comprehensive stool test.

Female Hormone testing

At Aspire Natural Medicine we use leading edge urine testing, that is much more comprehensive than blood testing, to measure the actual hormone metabolites in your body.

For women, hormone imbalance can affect health in ways that include: weight gain, infertility, depression, difficulty coping, sleep disturbances, hot flashes, PMS, bone loss.  Each of these can be a sign of hormonal imbalance.

Two out  of 3 women who have self-reported depression or difficulty coping, and 7 out of 10 who report irritability have at least one hormone out of range.  Many women report some relief from mood disorders when a proper hormone balance is achieved.

There is no need to guess the reason for your symptoms. Testing your hormones to uncover your individual imbalance will lead to a targeted treatment with better results.

Male Hormone testing

At Aspire Natural Medicine we use leading edge urine testing, that is much more comprehensive than blood testing, to measure the actual hormone metabolites in your body.

In men, hormone imbalances may negatively affect health in the following ways: bone loss, erectile dysfunction, memory loss, depression, irritability, breast enlargement, weight gain, and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Laboratory data shows that approximately 3 out of 5 men with self-reported symptoms such as aggression, apathy, depression, irritability and an inability to cope, have at least one out-of-range hormone results.

Men’s hormones are seldom discussed when it comes to their health concerns. There is no to guess the reason for your symptoms. Testing your hormones to uncover your individual imbalance will lead to a targeted treatment with better results.

Adrenal Hormone testing

At Aspire Natural Medicine we use leading edge urine testing, that is much more comprehensive than blood testing, to measure the actual hormone metabolites in your body.

The adrenal glands are crucial in providing your body’s stress hormones.  They help to regulate energy levels, inflammation, immune function, blood glucose and metabolism.

We live in a world of consistent stressors that can quickly deplete our adrenal function.   If you are exhausted, overwhelmed, have been through periods of high stress in your life, experience insomnia, or struggle with your blood sugar, then you should have your adrenal function tested.

Vitamin D testing

Low vitamin D has been linked to anxiety, autoimmune disease, cancer, depression, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, muscle pain and fatigue, osteoporosis, and poor immune response.

If you are taking vitamin D, you should be tested to see if your vitamin D is within the optimal range.  If you are not taking vitamin D, being tested can determine the Vitamin D dose you should start on.

Seven out of 10 Canadians do not meet the suggested minimum vitamin D level for optimal health. Due to our long winters, Canadians do not receive enough sunlight to make sufficient vitamin D for four to five months of the year.

Find out today if your vitamin D levels are within optimal range.

Heavy metal testing

Our world is more toxic now than it has ever been and the demand on our body to cope with these toxins has never been so high. We are exposed to small amounts of heavy metals on a regular basis and they can accumulate in our body over time.

Accumulation of heavy metals can lead to symptoms such as: tingling in the hands and feet, mental confusion, increased risk of heart disease, fatigue, insomnia, and low moods.

At Aspire Natural Medicine, we test for metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium, and arsenic, just to name a few.

Find out from our naturopathic doctors if heavy metal accumulation is a component in your health concerns.

Urine iodine testing

Iodine is a key component of thyroid hormones. Selenium helps convert T4 to the more active T3 form. A lack of iodine or selenium may affect energy, metabolism, and mood which can lead to weight gain, fatigue, depression, and fibrocystic breast disease.

Too much iodine can shut down thyroid hormone production. A urine iodine test can discover if you are getting the right amount of daily iodine to optimize thyroid function.

Get tested today and see if an iodine imbalance is a component in your thyroid problems.

Lyme Disease testing

Lyme disease is a hot topic in medicine as the incidence of this disease continues to increase dramatically. Lyme disease can have a myriad of symptoms which often makes it difficult to diagnose.

Current testing methods through our health care system have a rate of false negatives around 50%. That means half of patients who do in fact have Lyme disease are told their test result is negative. This is a major problem in getting help for those who need it.

Our clinic uses an accredited lab in both Germany and the USA to increase the accuracy in which we can diagnose individuals with Lyme disease. These labs have a rate of accuracy closer to 86% compared to the 50% mentioned above. While not yet perfect, this is a significant step in the right direction.

If you suspect you have Lyme disease and are looking for a more accurate way to test, talk to one of our naturopathic doctors today.

Allergy Scratch testing

If you suspect that you have allergies to your environment such as: cats, dogs, horses, feathers, trees, snow mold, ragweed, mold, weeds, and pollens, we can help you to identify exactly which allergen is bothering you using scratch testing on your skin just like in an allergist’s office. Our clinic also provides allergy treatment to help rid your symptoms of allergies for the long term.

If you have or suspect allergies to your environment, talk to us today to identify and treat your allergies.

Micronutrient testing

Micronutrient testing provides the most comprehensive nutritional analysis available by measuring functional deficiencies at the cellular level. It is an assessment of how well the body utilizes 33 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites, while conveying the body’s need for these micronutrients that enable the body to produce enzymes, hormones, and other substances essential for proper growth, development, and good health.

This test provides the basis of a personalized, functional approach in addressing a broad variety of clinical conditions including arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular risk, diabetes, various immunological disorders, metabolic disorders and micronutrient deficiencies.

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)

BIA is a method of assessing your body composition which is the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. A normal balance of body fat is associated with good health and longevity. Excess fat in relation to lean body mass, can greatly increase your risks to many diseases.

BIA can be a critical tool in determining your current state of health as it also measures fluid and body mass. This is especially helpful for decreasing water retention as we determine whether the excess water is inside or outside of the cell, which then leads to the proper course of treatment.

With the BIA we can track your progress and provide motivation as you witness the significant impact even small lifestyle changes can have on your health.
